Tune Up Your Memory – Improve Your Memory…

October 28, 2009

It’s been a while since my last blog post, but I’ve been working a new line of memory products www.TuneUpYourMemory.com . You see, as a college professor, I get to work with lots of students, many of them returning to school after a long time away.

Most college classes require people to memorize a lot of information, and if you don’t have a good system, you can really struggle.

Several years ago, I created a memory program called Tune Up Your Memory. I first developed the memory techniques when I was in college, but I turned it into a step by step system to help students (children, college students) and other groups as well (medical professionals and senior adults).

TIP #1 – Focus On New Information For At Least 10 Seconds
Research tells us that we need to concentrate on new information for at least 7-9 seconds in order to get it from short term to long term memory.

If we are honest with ourselves, how long do you concentrate on new information before moving on? Research tells us that people tend to shift their focus before they transfer the info to long term memory.

So Tip #1 is to spend a little longer focusing on each new fact.
